SBP to Issue Rs 5 Coin of New Size

State Bank of Pakistan is going to issue new coin of Rs. 5, which will be in new size and the metal composition is also changed. The field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation with issue this new coin through their exchange centers from 15 October 2015.

The new coin of Rs. 5 will have the weight of only 3 grams and the composition of the metal will be included with 79% copper, 20% zinc & 1% nickel and the dimension of the coin will be 18.5 mm.

On the other side of the coin, there will be waxing crescent moon and five pointed star, which face north-west in the rising position. On the top of the crescent star, there will be periphery in the words, ‘Islami Jamhoria Pakistan’ in Urdu the year of issuance is written below the crescent and top of the two springs of wheat with the arms in the curved shape in upward direction. On the edge of the coin, there is the circle of small beads.

The reverse side of the coin is added with floral wreath, which is shown along with the periphery of coin, which splitted with cones of five-pointed star. The value of the coin is written in word, 5 in the middle in bold letter and Rupee is written in Urdu script. The circle of beads is present on the edge of the coin. The State Bank of Pakistan does not make any announcement for the cancellation of the existing Rs. 5 coin and it will be in the circulation along with the new coin.
