Wateen and Qubee have decided to carry out the merger plan to re-energize their wireless broadband market and this merger plan will be launched in the market after the necessary approval from PTA and CCP. This merger plan will be introduced with the planned investment making by over US $25 million. This investment plan will help them in expanding and improving the coverage of the combined network of these two companies.
Both the companies, Wateen and Qubee have signed an agreement according to which these two companies have become the second largest broadband service provider in the countries as they have the subscribers over 200,000.
Mobilink Infinity has stopped working in the market and it handed over its customers to Qubee after exiting from the WiMAX market. After the dealing of these two companies, now Qubee/Wateen and Wi-Tribe become two major and sole WiMAX operators in the country.
Both the companies have released their statements that their network upgrade will make the operation with high speed broadband network and it will be upgraded with 4G LTE. This latest technology of 4G LTE will bring a revolutionary change in the market and it will also boost the digital economy of the country.
This new business will provide chance for making investment to launch the value added services and tools to make improvement of broadband penetration in the country.
The CEO of Wateen Telecom, Naeem Zamindar stated that with this new broadband business will give boost to the broadband industry with their collaboration with Qubee and they have the long leap in meeting the challenges to provided access to the high speed 4G data, newly furnished digital services and latest and uninterrupted connectivity to the people of Pakistan.
The CEO of Augere business in the country said that they were feeling happy for the formation of the strong and reliable broadband business in the country. They will provide the combined business to the customers with better service with the capacity of affordable broadband connections to penetration in the customers of Pakistan. With the introduction of the high speed broadband connection, the number of customers will also increase as they will like to join the digital community with quick and secure access to internet.
The agreement is workable and the transaction in this regard will work after the required regulatory, corporate, an d government approval and this target will be achieved in the first half of the next year, 2014
