A Chinese firm Telecast Technology Co. Ltd. recently visited Pakistan and met PEMRA Chairman Absar Alam and other government officials. This firm is specialized in manufacturing of MMDS systems, digital CATV equipment and analog pay TV systems.
During these meetings, Telecast Technologies Corporation was interested in setting up a manufacturing unit in Pakistan to produce digital cable TV and set top box for DTH locally.
It should be remembered that PEMRA wants to auction three DTH licenses by end of November 2016 and is in the process of DTH licenses auctions.
According to PEMRA, the final auction will take place in the last week of November 2016 for which they have shortlisted 16 companies for bidding.
PEMRA has asked the cable operators to start deploying digital cable TV network in Pakistan which is a part of digitization of TV network in the country.
Initially, the deadline of 30th May 2016 was set for completely digitizing Cable TV network in Pakistan but later it was postponed after efforts from cable TV operators.
According to PEMRA, the Chinese firm wants support for establishing of its manufacturing unit in Pakistan for which Chairman PEMRA assured all possible support from the authority.
